Bob, I was doing far better when I knew nothing!! What do you mean by basic tape reading skills? I assume you are talking about upticks, downticks, volume, etc. If not, please elaborate on this. Before I knew anything about TA, I would have sold both my October and Jan calls and made a nice little profit yesterday. What I was doing was watching the price as it started to move downward in the afternoon and should have known to sell then and buy these back later..which is how I was doing this before I knew anything. With respect to the resistance at 61 that should have been a key indicator as it started to go back down but when it had gone to 61 7/8, I expected it had broken through 61. How do you actually determine if a resistance level has been broken. It's obviously not just because the stock traded above this point and I am just not sure. What you are saying here is also that the 50 day MA is a key average. I got all caught up in different ma's and was doing 3 short terms looking for crossovers. Also, is the 50/200 day simple, exponential or what is better. I hope you can answer something else for me. I now have Quotes Plus and when I put in the ma's, 50 and 200, the 200 day average doesn't go all the way back to the beginning of the chart. It starts somewhere in the middle but never at the very beginning. I am sure there is some obvious reason for this that I am missing. This actually happens on alot of the MA's I am playing around with. Your messages are extremely helpful I am sure not only to me but others and I hope you will continue. My frustration level right now is very high because I want to move along with this but it is just taking more time than I expected. There are just so many things to consider and then one has to know how to put them all together to get the total picture. I think what happens is that the more you realize how much you don't know the more you are afraid to do anything which isn't good either. i would actually consider paying real money for a TA class if one was available.
