Regardless, your position that "it is not that easy" boils down to it being a matter of time, if the political resolve is there. This I already stipulated. Beyond this there is nothing in your post that says it is impossible for a government to eventually have nuclear weapons if it minds to it and works for it.

I'm not quite sure where this is going. We've both said it's possible and we have some disagreement as to how easy/difficult it may be. Which is not resolvable.

You've taken the position: It [the NPT] should promote diplomacy on the basis that everyone has a nuke at home. But it's the been the NPT that has kept knowledge, material and technology from those that would develop weapons. I've come to a conclusion that it's a matter of time before a WMD of large scale destruction goes off. You think there's a window of opportunity. I suppose if we assume that everyone has a nuke at home, the US might as well be the country that builds a nuclear reactor for Iran.
