I am in the same boat intellectually. I spend a fair amount of time in China and I am stunned by the changes going on there in terms of market development. People who do not see the market in China tend to be armchair analysts who spend their time looking at stats without ever setting foot in China. I have no confidence in their ability to read the tea leaves. On the other hand, the death of the US consumer has significant global implications -- and of course we have not seen the death of the US consumer, at least not quite yet. That too remains to be seen :)
