Are American Troops Becoming Fair Targets Of The Left?

-- Lorie Byrd

Michelle Malkin has a followup to the story Alexander posted here this weekend about the outrageous crashing of a Marine funeral by Pennsylvania Lt. Governor, Catherine Baker Knoll. It appears this might not be the first time she pulled such a stunt.

Malkin also links to a post at Captain’s Quarters about a disgusting act of vandalism committed against a slain soldier’s family.

I just wonder… After 9/11, those on the left bit their tongues and did not criticize President Bush for fear of appearing anti-American or fear of trying to score political points from the suffering of so many. Most held their criticism until the “16 words apology” allowed those on the Left to inaccurately claim that Bush had lied. I can’t help but notice the similarity to those on the Left that bit their tongues when it came to criticizing “the troops” lest they be seen as unpatriotic and being compared to those who spit on soldiers returning from Vietnam. Maybe some of those who resisted extending their criticism to the troops, have now decided to cross that line.

Many on the Left have tried to portray the U.S. troops as hapless victims of this President’s foreign policy. As more and more of those troops and their families speak out in support of this President and the action in Iraq, through milblogs and other outlets, I wonder if they are gradually being seen as willing accomplices and are finally becoming targets of those opposing Bush policies.

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin has an update including a letter of apology from the Lt. Bov.
