Re B-52:

They should just build more B-52s in the coming years instead of designing a new heavy bomber. They work great, why try to reinvent the wheel?>>>

I could give 50 or 100 reasons why more of the same will not be built and why the design need changing.

It begins with improved enemy interceptors and missiles,an uncertainty by the military as to what is needed in the next war, keeping engineers employed, pork barrel politics,

But many features of the airplane will remain the same for another 30 years in airliners required to carry heavy loads for long distances. Those that are already on the drawing boards.

Lest Boeing take credit for all the good features, they only invented a few of them, but they did bring them together in a single design.
