Well, the budget has been significantly increased but what else do you think he should do? Have you ever been along the border? I have, I have driven much of the border in Arizona, some in New Mexico and some in Texas. Much of it is very wild, on Mexican side a large desert in places, same true on American side in places. Truth is, its not really possible to seal the entire border. What they do is try and seal off the popular crossing places, those easiest for a person to make the trip, then they have an in depth program to pick them up even miles into the USA. The problem that I see is this: 1. We do not have the facilities to house the ones we do catch and if we did the cost would be astronomical, we are talking a very large number of people. 2. We do not have the court facilities and judges to give them a timely hearing. 3. Last and most important, we do not ENFORCE the rules we already have as to hiring illegal aliens, which is why most come in the first place.
The only real answer that will work IMHO is to have a bonafide guest worker program then enforce the rules with a DRACONIAN HAND as to hiring illegals. This would probably reduce the number of illegals coming over, then we could concentrate on the terrorists you are worried about.
Meanwhile, up north in Canada which has 50 MAJOR Terrorist organizations you can nicely DRIVE across the border with no sweat in many places. Heck, I have been in a home there where 1/2 the house is in Canada and 1/2 is in USA. They got a LINE drawn in the floor for the border. NO KIDDING. haha. jdn |
