John C., What about the athletes that haul down millions of dollars a year. There are uneducated thugs that are idolized by the sporting public. Reminds me of the original "Roller Ball" movie. That may not be government money, but they all form foundations to avoid paying income tax, which could be of better use. $65,000 per year is peanuts compared to many other government jobs, and those people put their lives on the line to explore space. One may think that going into space is silly, but there is much to be learned, and many good things have come from our adventures so far.
