BELL CANADA TEAMS WITH NETSCAPE AND ACTRA TO PROVIDE
MADE-IN-CANADA ELECTRONIC COMMERCE SOLUTIONS

TORONTO, Sept. 9 /CNW/ - Bell Canada will provide a host of new
electronic commerce solutions to the Canadian market under a strategic
agreement signed with Netscape Communications Corporation and Actra. The
solutions will help Canadian businesses use the Internet to extend their reach
to their business partners and realize significant productivity gains.
Under the agreement, Bell Emergis, a division of Bell Canada, will
integrate solutions offered by Actra, a Netscape joint venture and Internet

approach which allows companies of all sizes to choose the solution and
professional services that best meet their needs.
As an integrator, Bell Emergis will lead a strategic alliance that will
provide turnkey solutions to its customers. It will be responsible for
connectivity, implementing the electronic commerce solution, integrating it
with existing applications and fully deploying the solution throughout each
client's trading partner community. Bell Canada is also acquiring the rights
to adapt Actra's electronic commerce software to the needs of the Canadian
marketplace.
``By signing this agreement with Netscape for Actra products, Bell
Emergis is increasingly assuming its role as a solutions integrator and
software developer,'' Tobin said. ``Bell Emergis is eager to form partnerships
with the top specialists in their fields in order to be able to provide its
customers with leading-edge solutions that are effective, reliable and
tailored to their specific needs.''
