That article sez labor costs are 15% more. When I was doing it on the Farmer's Market circuit, the labor was my job. Just paid lousy. But almost no inputs; we had chickens, I had access to horse manure. Only costs were sulfur and dormant oil (salmon based, actually), and a protein/peptide anti-freeze for the trees.
My sense is that it has always cost more because the growers and merchants could get away with it.
