Organic is more labor intensive. Takes more work to produce the same amount of food. If you've ever tried to grow tomatoes or cukes or zucchini or lettuce completely free of pesticides, you'll see what I mean. Most folks just plant extra, so they'll have some left after the bugs have arrived. But I'll take vegetables with a bug bite here and there to the crap churned out by pissed off chemical plant workers, any day. Tastes better too.
