"Cause I believe the silent majority want a peaceful government of their own." Is the 'silent majority' packing heat and cranking out suicide bombers... with the aid of unlimited Saudi cash? If not, then I point you to Stalin's famous phrase about the Pope: "How many divisions does he have?" As far as 'a government of their own', that is EXACTLY what I predict will ultimately happen. The Kurds will get a government of their own, the Iraqi Shi'a will get a government of their own, and the Iraqi Sunni will get a government of their own.... That is how the Iraqi civil war will ultimately play out. (And, we should certainly NOT stand in the way of national determinism. That should be a right for all peoples with freedom.)
