Dont go so fast. I get you. My point is that the "sense of proportion" you talk about is based on the fact that there were only 50 casualties. But it is the same event that produced 3000 casualties on 9/11. So when we hunt for the terrorists in either case or try to prevent future attacks of any type, the same means are called for. This isnt one off crime. The numbers of fatalities dont matter. It is what their aims and goals are that counts and the fact that it is international in scope and cumulative in numbers of people and in economic damage. The reduction is numbers of deaths is one sign that our strategies are working but we shouldnt be so sanguine to dismiss the possiblities that the terrorists will find another one of our "achilles heels". It is qualitatively different than you think.
