As a lowly shareholder, I am appalled by the sweetheart deals cooked up in far too many boardrooms that pay out excessive rewards for what too often proves to be complete incompetence. It looks bad from the outside, but I don't want Government regulating compensation. If these boards felt they could get the best CEO for less, they would. A lot of it is too make room in the compensation structure for his top people under the CEO. If they put him too low, they can't pay what they need to pay to get good upper managment. It's all competitive.
