The tremendous social movement that began in the fifties and culminated in the 60's became hard line gospel for true believers by the 80s. The dinosaurs holding up obsolete agendas from those days gone by were crushed in the nineties when clinton was brought down by right wing zealots. There was as much to criticise in the Clinton Admin as there is with the Bush Admin but efforts to renew and change for improvement have taken a back seat to missionaries from the extreme left and the extreme right. Bush is the current target, to be either hit or defended by extremists. People are gradually waking up to the real enemy of our era (extremism) but for now their voices pass for actual political thought.
