That would be nice and I would egree with you except, what you seem to forget is that the Sunnis out number the Shias world wide. The Sunnis would be protected by the stakeholders around the world. So, it would not be as simple as you portray it. The insurgencies are all backed by external resources as well... gigantic blood bath, that would spill over to the rest of the planet.
