You said the question is either A or B, in my opinion that isn't the question.

Once you give up on the idea "it's theirs so its wrong to tell them what to do with it" you can evaluate whether or not its a better system than out current one.

Yes if we give up our ideas we come to different conclusions. That goes without saying. OTOH I have no good reason to give up an idea that I consider to be both valid and important.

However, I also have no proof that the government will do a better job for society using the wealth than a 2nd generation heir. But I'd bet they would.

I'd bet they wouldn't.
