Sure, but that is part of why it is impressive. Why are the 1 Billion in Africa not doing as well?

Because they aren't building out infrastructure. They're pouring it down the Swiss Bank Account for Dictators hole.

Again, sure, but their technical abilities are becoming quite impressive. China has already shown some posturing with governmental setting of electronics standards. In the not to distant future, defacto electronics standards will be set by China simply for volume economic reasons. Times are changing

Sucking up the low-wage industrial manufacturing jobs is one thing, providing the kind of high-wage, high-education jobs for hundreds of millions is quite another. Despite the growth, the majority of Chinese are uneducated peasants in the rural hinterlands. I doubt China can repeat the industrialization growth in transition to a more complex economy. When its industrial workers start repeating the West's cycle of unionization and demands for higher wages, better working conditions, etc. they will lose their competitive advantage, and those jobs will move elsewhere. I don't think the transition will be pretty at all. Imagine Homestead writ much, much larger.

I agree with what Bill wrote - I think they'll "stall out".
