Dan, Have you ever made anything from scratch in volumn?
I guess not...It takes a template to cut thousands of something out of wood that are the same every time. When a contractor builds a home and has to cut balleses(sp) for the deck railings (the upright dividers) he had to set up a "jig" to make sure all the pieces of wood are cut to the same length. He also has to have "equipment", a mitre saw, a sharp blade, and manpower. Time and money are involved in this. I know, I've spent many a day cutting balleses for a hotel.
Designing the machinery and with QDRX it takes machinery to make a new product takes time. The product is first designed on paper, then hand made and refined, then taken to a place that makes the machines to mass produce the product. Then/while this is being done everyone has to be paid for their time and designs. And marketing has to be done. All this takes time. Not just a couple of days or even a few months. I wish a QDRX designer/engineer/teck rep were allowed to post here to explain it in full. I know that teck questions are answered on the MACR board. Not hype and not considered hype, just detailed info.
I make Napkin Holders, Christmas Ornaments, Refrigerator Magnets, clocks and mirrors in the shape of Block Island. Design came first on paper, then a model was done, then the work of cutting the pieces out of wood. Templates had to be made. Granted, mine are outlines and each piece is individually cut but similar process. Stock for that has to be bought and paid for before anything else happens. Then everything has to be sanded, stained, poly applied, sanded, polyed, sanded, etc. Then I have to go to fairs and display the product at my store. And I do this in dozens...not millions or even tens of thousands. Take that and put it on the scale of QDRX and yes, I understand the idea of limiting the number of designs until they take over and then add new ones. I do the same. New stain color tested. No one liked it so tried another. Sold like hot cakes.
QDRX reps, please let a rep post here to confirm or deny what I said.

BTW: for all you out there excited about the EB contracts...If I remember correctly, QDRX did something for the military for Airplanes. Very classified. |
