Jap is a slur because its intent was that it be used as a slur by both people in the WW2 timeframe, before the WW2 timeframe and ole Tom Watson who claims he is a christian and he and only he can determine who to insult. Pre-WW2 Japanese people were demonized both here and there. Read about the yellow peril--another slur by the way. And study the history of california and remember Japanese American citizens in camps with their property taken during the war. Is it OK to call koreans slopes or vietnames gooks? End of story.
