Re: public vs. private companies.

It has been my observation that most public companies that are taken private, are done so primarily by the large venture capital firms and investment banks, with the primary objective of an IPO at some future point, usually valued at from 3 to 10 times what they were bought out at.

Thus screwing the majority for the benefit of the few.

I've been looking any time now for an IPO of BI Inc, taken private by KKR around 5 years ago, at a price of $8/share. The Boulder Colorado firm makes the electronic ankle bracelets used for home detention and provides monitoring services to federal, state, county, and local law enforcement clients.
