Sorry mindmeld, your math is wrong. The correct formula would be [Gas @ 25 mpg] - [Gas @ 100 mpg] or (12000/25) - (12000/100) = (480) - (120) = 360 gallons saved. What you are calculating is how many gallons of gas you must consume before you have achieved 12000 extra miles driven. Because you are dividing by [extramiles/gallon].
