I was on a plane coming home from another state recently when I ran into an American soldier headed to Iraq. He was 19. I got to talking to him and he told me it gets up to 140 degrees in Iraq. Can you imagine the cruelty of Muslim men forcing their women to wear burqahs in that kind of heat? That's inhumane. Anyway, crazy custom in my opinion, but each to his own. I guess I'd be ok with it if those women had a choice, but they don't.

What about the cruelty of making guys wear armor and walking around in that heat with clothes from head to toe and wearing 50 lb packs? Do you know what that stress is doing to their physiology? Did you ever think about what caused the disease called the Gulf War syndrome that afflicted American troops from the first Gulf War?

On another note, he told me that he was a Humvee gunner. You know those guys that stand up in the back of Humvees and handle the turret guns. He also said that he is one of the ones that escorts convoys everywhere. This is the guy that is the most in danger in Iraq. On top of it all, he was only 19. He is just a kid. Makes you really sad. I'm glad this thing is almost over and most of these guys and girls will get to come home next year.

Who told you its almost over...........reports coming out of the WH and Congress conflict. The GOP is worried about next year's elections. Congress would love to show it made best efforts to bring our troops home.......let Bush take the fall.
