Speaking of organic, in this area we are seeing more market penetration of chemical and pesticide free food products. Whole Foods Markets is a great chain (and also came in with another quarter of robust earnings growth after the bell.) I happened to be in a blue collar type grocery chain the other day and came across a large organic section, which is new for them. Their prices were fairly competitive as well, especially the milk products. A major change considering this is an old fashioned, traditional red meat kind of grocery.
At our state farmers market, organic produce was practically nonexistent a year ago. This year there are a substantial number of vendors selling specifically labelled organic produce. Progress.
