Gearing Up to Lock and Load POlipundit The U.S. Senate is moving inexorably towards a comprehensive liability shield for gun manufacturers and dealers.
By tomorrow evening, and barring something unforeseen {knock on wood}, they’ll be celebrating over at the NRA, and in gun clubs, and shooting ranges, and the like.

Med Mal Lawsuit Reform
is one step closer to becoming a reality.
Now it’s off to the U.S. Senate, in which similar measures have failed in prior years. But that was back when Tom D . . . Dash . . . um, you know, that creepy guy, who looked like a mortician on Xanax? . . . was running the show over in MediaCrat Land.
At this stage of the game it will be quite in-ter-es-ting to see how some of those red-state Democrats (e.g., Bill Nelson, Kent Conrad, Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu, the Kleagle, etc.) vote on this bill.
Speaking of Bill Nelson, voters in his state recently approved a referendum to cap attorneys’ fees in medical malpractice lawsuits by the “slim majority” of 64-36. So, ergo, I’ll go waaaay out on a limb and predict he’ll “grudgingly” join the GOP in connection with hard caps on general damages.
The real question is whether Harry Reid will be able to cobble together a filibuster, notwithstanding those Democrats for whom there’s little choice but to get in touch with reality on this subject.
I sure hope Reid and his other comrades are that tone deaf …. -- Jayson polipundit.com |
