You don't think that sent a frisson of fear (and even terror) up the spines of all tax collectors, and put political pressure on the government? If I remember right at least two tax agents were killed in beatings at the time. Many were afraid to leave their homes. Wives and children of tax collecters were assaulted.

Yes. My reference was to the Tea Party- "according to the British". I think a violent attack on a symbol can be a terrorist act- especially when linked with a pattern of social violence. That's why (imo) the Tea Party was very similar to the destruction of The Weathermen in the '60's. Destroying property for symbolic purpose to apply political pressure- seems similar to me. You may not agree, but I have facts, and very good reasons to think the Tea Party was a terrorist act. I think mocking me, or mocking what I say, is not a particularly good answer to the historical evidence I have at my disposal. You could, of course, draw many interesting distinctions, I am sure, between the acts of the colonists, and acts of other terrorists. That would be interesting.

There is a good source, which I think is called The American War of Independence 1760-1781, and it contains numerous contemporary sources, and gives some interesting contemporaneous British points of view.
I recommend the book. I think that's the one that had the references to just how much tax agents and government personnel suffered at this time. You might enjoy reading it (if you haven't already)- it's well written.
