Yes - it's sad when police screw up they color the entire force and their mission. I have a hard time considering what I would feel if I was related to the Brazilian kid - even as an observer - it's difficult. As much as I respect the job the police perform - this one really creates mixed feelings.


I too respect the job the police do but you don't give them more power without preparing them for it adequately. I am pretty certain those 5 cops were not given the preparation needed. Their attempts at covering up like with "the padded coat' and 'jumping the turnstyle" suggest people who got in over their heads.

And what makes this particular case so bad, this Brazilian guy was really a good guy. Did you know he grew up a farm which did not have electricity? At the age of 8 or 9, he was so intrigued with the concept of electricity, he built a radio from scratch. There are not a lot of people in the world who think and behave like that...........who have a lot of self motivation.
