I was in Matala but not with Joanne. I made my living as a beach musician in Vai. No luxury amenities like tents and such...

There were very few tourists and still lots of fisherman in the area then. We got along great and freely shared food, rezina and ouzo.

However, soon after, the modern world via tourist buses started to drop off invaders for an obligatory 20 minute swim on the palm beach before herding them back on again. It changed the area forever.
