We lost the ability to assimilate immigrants and make them Americans when the "melting pot" theory was discarded Multi-culturalism and PC weds people to their ethnicity and prevents assimilation. There has been a forty year assault on patriotism and nationalism because it was considered to be part of the cause of the WW II. Something else to thank the liberals for; they drive us apart and weaken the country. It hinders us now, and there will have to be a shift away from the philosophy that divides America into competing ethnic groups.
