The foe sneers: you are infidels; you die now. The moderns pull a face, steeple their fingers, and wonder what they really mean. May I suggest, before looking to every horizon for underlying causes, that it makes good sense to listen to the jihadis themselves and take seriously what they themselves say about their goals?
