"I don't know what the solution is... " What is needed is a leader who makes a Kennedy-like commitment to doing something. Now I personally would like to see a commitment to doing a Project Orion. Now that would grip people's imagination, imagine putting thousands of tons into orbit at one go. With that type of tonnage, we could open the whole solar system. Ok, the nuclear aspect would upset people, but it would fire imaginations and breathe life into NASA.
