The communist party was talking about "imperialist" American in the 40's. Maybe the critique began in the 30's, I don't know.

Somebody on this thread suggested I look at some of the left wing boards on SI. I've been shocked at their hatred of their own country. They try to control it, but it keeps popping out all the time.

They believe America is paying for its colonial past. They go back to TR to find evidence. Nothing America does is ever right.

It's old communist propaganda. They're still spewing the party line, but their ideology is discredited, and they're stuck with nothing but their hatred for America.

I don't even know if they're aware of it. I suppose they're indoctrinated on the college campuses.

It never occurred to me anybody could take them seriously, but 48% of America voted for Kerry. I have read that a third of that number is far left.

That's a lot of Americans rooting for the fall of their own country. I suppose they would argue they only want to transform it into a "better" country, but in the face of OBL's stated goals, it's suicidal.

I'm beginning to think the enemy within is as dangerous as our external foes. Maybe more so, because it's a stealth enemy.

I'm starting to feel as paranoid as a John Bircher, a group I poked fun at in the 60's/70's. (grin)
