It worked for many of my redneck buddies in south georgia going into fathers business for several generations - but then walmart came into town and ran most of them into bankruptcy, now the new kids don't work in family business with close social ties but go to work in soul less megacorp. What we gained in economic utility we have lost in social cohesiveness.

Local walmart used to employ locals, so did wild adventure, now polish and africans that have no tie to the community come in - alienates everyone from each other.
