I think the proper reason for Bush's "election" were his friends, given that post election counts showed that Gore had indeed won Florida, but by then of course it was too late...the proper way to handle such cases however, is to state that should the margin of victory be less than the margin of error, then a run off is to be held. I think US is the only modern nation that does not have run off elections.

You won't get any argument from me there. I do believe that as a long term investment (read retirement) USD sucks and I have been in the process of diversifying (is there a way I can debase the value of my home to another currency?)
