The Dems are pitiful, but the Republicans seem EVIL. AS you've pointed out, the real problem is the entrenched ignorance of Americans in general. The Republicans make a living off pandering to the racist, the hater, the fearful, the stupid, and that seems to give them a slim majority of Americans.
