Phil > Iran's nuclear program will surely result in war unless Iran gives up those programs.

I don't think Iran will give up those programs and I don't think there will be war either for the simple reason that the US is already tired of war and especially having to fight Israel's never-ending wars against every conceivable enemy, real and imagined. In my opinion, it's absolutely unacceptable that 3 million gung-ho Israelis, and their Zionist pals in the US, are holding the whole world to ransom on the basis of 4000 year old religious fantasies.

> To have Iran and Iraq on friendly terms, united by their religion must be a continuing threat to Israel.

That's what I also believe. In fact, Israel will only be satisfied when every Muslim is dead. Then they can implement the delusion of "Greater Israel" and take over the oil which I supposed was also mentioned in the Jewish Biblical texts, and if it wasn't, it will be.

> Israel supported both sides, probably hoping they would kill each other to the last man

And they are still doing whatever they can to promote the conflict.

> The Arabs are as disunited now as ever, and most are dominated by either US or European interests

I have to say I don't know who calls the shots in the Arab world but I am sure the Arabs must be sick to death of the US/UK presence and involvement in their oil and, of course, the Palestinian issue must gall them.

> The Sunni/Shiite problem seems to exist mostly in Iraq, and I haven't seen any evidence of a similar problem in other Arab countries

In fact, I very much doubt how real the problem is, even in Iraq? As you ask, what about the future, but I tend to feel that, left alone from foreign interference, they could all live peacefully. Of course, that is not likely to happen and the "outsiders", especially Israel, as discussed, will do everything in their power to incite civil war. Meanwhile, the US will keep up the blah about bringing democracy.

> The Americans are doing everything possible to ensure that this [breakup of Iraq] will not happen. And it is costing them billions, while in the meantime, Israel prospers.

That's it. What Israel needs badly is another "big-time" 9/11, only this time, instead of bin Laden & Co being behind it, it will be done by Iranian "terrorists".
