I happen to think religion may be, at least to a certain extent, genetic. The more we learn about wiring and religion (the "God" spot in the brain, for example) the more I think susceptibility to religion is probably to some extent dependent on the wiring in your brain. If your God spot gets stimulated a lot, chances are you will be more susceptible to religion- I don't think it determines what religion will tickle your God spot- probably any religion you hit at the right time will do.

I look forward to a lot more scientific exploration of this area. Religious people could easily have agnostic children, if it's a function of genetic expression. It's probably a lot more complicated than the eye color- and you know two brown eyed parents can have a blue eyed child. It's all dependent on genotype, not phenotype. Since a group of genes is probably involved, it makes sense to me that it could easily be genetic.
