That article is an example of terrible journalism.

1- It never told us the minimum sentencing law that mandated life in prison for the accused. It didn't even explain why minimum sentencing laws were involved in the case.

2- It denigrated the severity of preaching war against the US by calling the accused the "paintball jihad" group. They could just have easily been called a group of Islamic fanatics looking for innocent non-Islamic targets against which to commit atrocities. Let your pre-ordained bias determine which rhetoric you want to use to describe the group.

Perhaps its an abbreviation of a longer article, but if not its just poor journalism.
