One Of The Most Misleading Ads I Have Ever Seen

-- Lorie Byrd
PoliPundit.com

I read this at Ankle Biting Pundits about Paul Hackett, the anti-war Iraqi vet who is running for congress in Ohio, and I watched him on Hardball last week talking about how horrible the President’s policies are in Iraq. So you can imagine my surprise when I saw the ad, via Trey Jackson, that Hackett is running which makes him appear as a pro-Bush Marine in support of the work our troops are doing in Iraq.

If I were his opponent, I would run the hell of out his ad, interspersed with clips from his stump speech and his appearance on Hardball and other political chat shows. I think the competing images would be devastating to his credibility and would show him to be at best a manipulator, and at worst, a prevaricator.

My advice to Hackett would be to remind him that trying to align yourself with President Bush (and those troops you obviously disagree with), while throwing anti-Bush red meat to your Democrat supporters didn’t work so well for Tom Daschle.

For those wishing to throw some love to his Republican opponent, Jean Schmidt, click here to do so.
