The only real mystic I ever read was Jacob Boehme. And that was a long long time ago. He is quite a classic, if I remember correctly. According to Boehme, good cannot be conceived without evil. Good reveals itself through evil. For Boehme, everything is will and opposition. What made Boehme fascinating to the German Idealists was that he not only say a dark principle in all forms of existence but he was compelled to admit such a principle in the Deity itself. Like I said, I have a little interest in theology since I studied with a few Jesuit Philosophy Professors when I was in Graduate school. But it's all wild Kantian speculation to me without any Truth at its basis. That is to say, it's interesting dialogue but I wouldn't sell my soul to any of it.
