One of the great freedoms you enjoy in most of Europe is not having to worry about a speeding ticket. Cruising at 165 Kilometers or higher is a real kick, especially when those faster moving Italian drivers whiz by you!

We worry too much about speeding in the states, we also waste a lot of resources on the effort.

For whatever it's worth, the Brits do to. It's one of those cultural things that is so bred into us we don't even consider challenging the assumptions around the validity of it anymore. Is 100 any more dangerous than 75? Would driving be more or less dangerous if we had unlimited speed limits?

In most of Europe, people move to the right quickly when they see a fast moving vehicle in the rear mirror. Far too many Americans are oblivious to the traffic coming up behind them.

The same is true regarding the drinking age. For all intensive purposes Italy has no drinking age and you rarely (I mean virtually never), see a young Italian kid drunk and acting foolishly like you do in the states.

Drinking is just not that big of a deal.

By the way, found another great European travel site to throw in your bookmarks for future reference.
