William, Synvisc is hyaluronic acid with cross linking to make it a large polymer that is said to improve its action and duration in the joint. Synvisc is injected weekly x3 injections for a treatment. This effect lasts 6-8 months from what I have read and apparently can be repeated over a period of several years. BIOX has products in trials or marketed in Europe for eye, ent and abdominal surgery. Their web site biomatrix.com has a lot of information about their products and stage of development. Is your friend in the US or where is he planning to get the treatment? Jim
