re:although the religious right tends to be more zealous and a larger minority

I object - the zealots in San Diego appear to be a handfull of atheists even after a vote.

From what I understood, it was zealous Christians vs veterans. Are you saying the veterans are atheists?

"William Kellogg, president of the Mount Soledad Memorial Association, which built and maintains the cross, said placing the group under the National Park Service would subject it to cumbersome levels of bureaucracy and jeopardize plans for a veterans memorial on the hill.

The association began building its memorial in 2000. It is a collection of walls and plaques designed to honor veterans of all wars, and Kellogg said fund raising and plaque purchases have suffered in recent years because of the uncertainty caused by the legal challenges to the cross.

"Moving the cross to private land will save the cross and will allow the association to become the owners of the land and will allow the association to operate the memorial walls and honor veterans for posterity," Kellogg said."

re:.......its disgust. There is nothing behind their view but a book written by the ancients who were even more fearful, ignorant and myth based than we are.

Wouldn't a classroom discussion bring this out into the open?

Like I said, not in a science classroom.........in English, when the subject is fiction or stories passed down through the centuries. However, that's not what's being proposed in Kansas.

PS: I think it would be books - many of them, not just the bible.

And that's important why? All it is more books without facts.

re:If you want to push Intelligent Design, do it in Sunday School, and not a secular school.

I don't want to push anything here other than the free presentation of all theories to allow for the "teaching" to actually take place.

Its not a theory.......at least, not in the same category as Darwin's theory of evolution.
