Do you know where the first Hindu Temple was created in the present USA ?

And was always curious how far back the "Festival of Lights " goes .

There's also the great Southern Indian regions that have the Great Sages & enlightened religious aspirations that do date far far back . I've heard of certain caves up in the mountains of Sri Lanka , that have been renowned for great yogis , equaling , or even surpassing the antquity of the northern Kashmir and Himalyas. Some temples there in the south , have unbroken lineages that reach as far back as the 4th century BC . Southern India remaining more unnaffected by many of the invasions to the north . From aryans to moghul invaders to the brits raj.

I believe it was the romans , or perhaps the greeks that first observed the Ganges river purification bathing rituals of , ad these noted around 300 yrs bc...the greeks were a blend of indigenous and aryans too ?

Now 2300 yrs later , some 20million gathered by the same banks
the largest gathering of humans the world has ever seen in one place , for that reiligious purpose . Temple temple everywhere ...there .

Take me to the river , dunk me in the water , the water ...wash me anew , my sweet lord .

Wonder if John the Baptist might have heard of these ?

;-)
