9/11 caused two wars, the Patriot act (giving up our freedoms), a wedge between NATO members, marginalizing the UN, wider US budget deficits, red alerts, and mass fear. Exactly the reaction bin Laden was trying for... Bin Laden wants to unite Muslims to live under one united Sharia-law based system with Muslim leadership, and get rid of the current nation state systems and the non-Muslim controls/influences in Islamic lands. You think the reactions you described above are going to result in that? I don't think so.
