That leaves me wondering. Is there a big difference in the proportion of deaths in old East Germany as opposed to the western two-thirds of Germany? The results for Slovakia and a few other old Warsaw Pact countries seem very high, prompting my suspicions that antiquated roads could account for the higher rates.
