"If left unchecked" doesn't mean you invade the whole country and occupy it alone. It also doesn't mean you invade without any plan for post-invasion. It also doesn't mean you don't deliberately exaggerate intel and make false promises to the American people.

You understand, the issue is not disarming Saddam, the issue is how Bush did it. The huge occupation of Iraq without any real plan or help for doing so. That is the real crime. Why couldn't Bush have waited six months to put together a real plan? His rush cost us dearly.

It's a combination of greed, dishonesty and amateur hour ineptitude by armchair generals in the oil business. Almost no real diplomacy whatsoever. It was a rush to war. They went as fast as they could to grab those oilfields, but that was the only thing they prepared well for, grabbing the oil.

Then promising us Iraqi oil would pay for everything, that we knew where the WMD's were, that it would all be over in a matter of weeks and that we would be welcomed. The list of mistakes and deceptions goes on and on and on.

I was also for disarming Saddam, but I never believed he was a clear and present danger. He was maybe the #6 biggest potential threat to us, maybe even #8. He was not in the top three certainly. And Bush did not finish the job against Osama and Al Qaida. They were the ones who attacked us, not Saddam. So why did they do this awful stupid move? For the oil of course, for themselves, not for anyone else.
