The plant in Gillette Wyoming is now complete and they have begun commissioning. Full scale production will begin in October. They are in advanced negotiations on 4 joint ventures which should be sign before year end. Each deal will be around 8 million tons for a total of 32 million tons. They have also ordered steel and are permitting for immediate expansion of the pilot plant.

This process was tested in SA on the Sasol Lurgi equipment and proven to work. All though there has been a bit of controversy surrounding this company, the technology is proven and there is significant interest in the pilot plant. Arch Coal, Peabody Coal, Foundation Coal and numerous industrial coal burning companies as well as utilities have been out to the plant site doing their DD. The stock made a new high today at $18.30 from its low of $10.30 in April.

KFx technology raises the BTU level of western coal which is abundant to a level close to eastern coal which is being depleted. In addition they remove up to 70% of mercury and 30% of the sulfer and NOx in western coal which is already low in these emissions as compared to eastern coal.

I am still amazed that this stock has no following as the obvious solution to our energy needs is gasifying coal into petro. Western coal would first need the KFx process before it could be gasified. Williams Company has been out to the KFx site also and williams is a gas company. The CEO of Peabody Coal has also joined the Board of Williams Company. Is it possible that Williams is considering gasification of coal?

Go to the KFx website and read the reports. This company could become the Valero of coal.
