I've been thinking along those lines, going back a few months to when I learned that the Calif. energy crisis took 70 bil out of our (state) economy, enuf to rebuild the entire energy infrastructure of the state.
It will cost me about $6,500 to go solar. I don't use a lot, so the average cost will be a bit more, but 70 bil is probably enuf for l0 mil roofs in the state. I'm not sure how many houses we have, but that is probably close to the number of houses, if you figure 3.5 people/house.
I've seen estimates of 500-700bil for the war, by the time we finally get our butts out of there. That would probably be enuf for 100 mil solar set-ups over here. Build a few factories, employ a few people, and gives us a lot of electricity. Or, spend it on hybrids for everybody.
