Gary,

CalPERS (California biggest retirement fund) has clearly indicated
Apple is absolutely on track after Job's taken the de-facto CEO job.
They are waiting for the right person to be selected as Apple's CEO.
I think board's meeting last night as well as today will review the
best candidate in the pool. I wish Jobs or any of other board members
will become CEO/Chairman. There are always "against" votes with
unclear rationales. I treat it as destructive and disturbing voices
since the current situations are so clear. Let's review what have
been accomplished after Gil was out:

(1) Built the excellent relationship with Microsoft - it will provide
a safety bet on Apple's future, especially, for Rhapsody, OS8
as well as Power chips futures;

(2) The world-class board team - it will make Apple's strategic plans
much closer to reality and make it profitable ASAP.

(3) Employees (including executives) benefit's restructuring - it will
boost the stock value and is repeatedly emphasized by calPERS;

(4) Bought out Power comapany - it will streamline the hardware sales
and remove all the noises from Power that severely damage Apple's
image;

(5) Authorized OS8 to Umax - it will make cloning continue with the
way Apple wants - not only raising fees, but also minimizing the
geographical overlap between Apple and cloners; Umax might also
becomes Apple's OEM with less manufacturing expenses; It is like
Tatung of Taiwan is Sun Micro's OEM company. they both work fine.
Umax annual is about 2.5 billions US dollars;

(6) OS8 sales exceed expectation, Rhapsody developer's version is
ahead of schedule - it indicates Apple is making good progress
in its software development, same as in hardware advancement;

(7) Expanded PowerPC production by Motorola and IBM - it tells AIM
is still on stronghold. Rhapsody may port to OS/2, or even on
HP-UX and Sun's Solaris (just rumors), but it tells Apple is
trying to get into enperprise market as possible as it can.

So, I don't understand why a few people here still repeat their
unmature comments. If they want to short Apple, it will be unwise
since Apple is an old company like AT&T, IBM etc. Even going down
for speculation, but it will go up eventually and hold strong as it
is holding on the right track as today. Anybody who shorts Apple will
soon pay the price.

IMHO
