Now, if "I broke the law to save my life" is not a good excuse, at least it's better than "I broke the law because I'm a great driver with a fine car so I needn't be bothered." (BTW, I'm an excellent driver with a high-end performance car, too. Rides so well that fifty-five seems like a crawl, at least it would if I ever drove that slowly. <g>)

As I PMd you, the overwhelming weight of the data is that people drive safely at speeds at which they feel comfortable. Otherwise, there would be carnage on the highways. This is not something I knew before today's discussion, though it seems obvious in retrospect.

My comfort level is simply higher than most. That it is set high is not something I can help as it is probably inherited--my father and grandfather were also notoriously lead footed. And safe, too.

Cato would let me speed like a demon, not that he has much to say about it. vbg:

Most people don't do stupid things. But there is a surplus of laws that don't make sense in their application. I'll fight them with all the weapons I have when they affect me. If some here don't like it, that's too bad.
